Caring for a steel griddle top is similar to caring for a cast-iron pan.

Follow the cleaning process below or [watch our video for](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Iedu9z6NPY) [cleaning tips](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Iedu9z6NPY).

**Supplies:**

*   Metal-edged scraper
* Paper towels or a natural fiber cloth
*   Cooking oil
*   Scrub pad (optional)

Blackstone offers [cleaning kits](https://blackstoneproducts.com/products/8-piece-tool-kit?_pos=1&_sid=8e8624a16&_ss=r) to simplify the process.

**Instructions:**

1. Scrape off debris into the grease cup. To make clean-up easier, we recommend our disposable [grease cup liners](https://blackstoneproducts.com/products/30-count-grease-cup-liner?_pos=1&_sid=579556a74&_ss=r).
    * Use a [scouring pad](https://blackstoneproducts.com/products/10-pack-scouring-pads?_pos=1&_sid=f0056d18e&_ss=r) to scrub any stubborn debris.
    * It is easiest to remove debris from a warm griddle plate. Adding a small amount of water can help steam off baked-on foods.
2. Wipe the surface with paper towels to remove excess oil.
3. Spread a thin layer of cooking oil or [Blackstone's seasoning and conditioner](https://blackstoneproducts.com/products/griddle-seasoning-conditioner?_pos=19&_sid=755fe0901&_ss=r) over the surface to keep the griddle top hydrated between cooks.
    * If you’re in a humid area, you may need to add light oil layers more frequently to prevent the seasoning from drying.
