If your griddle is not heating or if you are experiencing low flames, the safety system in your regulator has likely tripped, and a reset is required. The safety system in the regulator typically trips to reduce the chance of a fire when the flow rate of propane is too high.

Below are reset instructions and some suggested troubleshooting to resolve low heat, depending on your griddle type.

## **For griddles with regulators that connect to bulk (20 lb) propane tanks:

The regulator safety system can be tripped by:

* Opening a propane tank too quickly, especially a full tank.
* Opening the propane tank when a burner knob is in the ‘on’ position.
* Improperly threading the regulator to the propane tank, which can cause leaking.

To fix a tripped regulator, complete a regulator reset:

1. Turn all your burners to the OFF position and close your propane tank.
2. Unscrew your regulator connector from your propane tank.
    * Check the tank valve. The seal on the valve outlet could be cracked or damaged. If there is any damage to the seal, swap your tank.
3. Gently tap the black connector piece face down against your palm to help dislodge the ball bearing in the safety system that may be stuck.
4. Ensure there is no debris in the gas rail connection, where the regulator attaches to the unit.
5. Reconnect your regulator to your propane tank. Make sure to seat the brass insert on your regulator directly into the propane tank valve and tighten the connector securely by hand. Do not overtighten or use tools, as that could damage the seal.
6. Slowly open your propane tank valve halfway, pause for a few seconds, then continue opening it fully.
7. Steps to troubleshoot low heat on a 1lb tank or check out our [How to Troubleshoot Low Gas Flow on Tabletop Griddles video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99XoRcVNGgQ):

1. Ensure there is no debris in the gas rail connection, where the regulator attaches to the unit.
2. Check that the bottle is installed correctly via the instructions in your user's manual. The regulator should be above the bottle at all times.
    * If the bottle is above the regulator, liquid propane may pour into the safety system, causing the regulator to frost.

3. Verify that the bottle is full. Low/empty bottles will start to frost on the outside of the canister
    * Replace the propane bottle if needed.
