If your griddle is not igniting, follow these steps to test and adjust your ignition system if necessary.

## **Step 1: Confirm Manual Ignition**

1. Slowly turn the propane valve on.
2. Set burner knobs to low.
3. Using a long lighter or match and keeping a safe distance, hover the flame over a burner tube hole.
4. If your griddle lights manually, continue to Step 2.
    * If your griddle does not light manually, see: [Why is my griddle not heating](https://help.blackstoneproducts.com/en_us/why-is-my-griddle-not-heating-or-producing-a-low-flame-HJqj2AiZa)?

## **Step 2: Identify Your Ignition Type**

* ****Electric push-button ignition:**** Your griddle has a battery-powered igniter box with a push-button ignition.
* ****Piezo ignition:**** Your griddle has a burner knob that pushes and turns to ignite the griddle.

## **Step 3: Adjust Igniter Needles**

1. Close and disconnect your propane tank.
    * ****For Electric Push-Button Ignition****: Check that you have a new battery in the ignitor and that the positive (+) side is in contact with the battery cap.  **I****f the spring is not fully extended to the end of the battery, use needle-nose pliers to extend it.**
2. Remove the griddle plate. If your unit is larger than a 28", you may need the help of another person
3. Locate L-shaped igniter needle(s) near or above the burner tubes.![Graphic of igniter needle placement.](https://cdn.kustomerhostedcontent.com/media/64ff24569540cb197ff45b82/8e2cb3579d6df5c6879d54905538e4ce.png)

4. Position each needle 1/8” to 1/4” above a burner tube hole. Bend the needle slightly with your fingers or gently with pliers.
5. Remove your hands and look for a blue spark between the needle and the tube.
    * ****For Electric Push-Button Ignition****: push the igniter button to generate a spark.
    * ****For Piezo ignition:**** push and turn your burner knob to generate a spark.
